Woolly Wreath & Garland

Woolly Wreath & Garland

Woolly Wreath & Garland

Woolly Wreath & Garland

“A little woolly magic!”

Years ago we knitted mammoth woolly wreaths using loop stitch for our shop holiday display. They were so popular that we created home-sized versions for a cozy accent all winter long. The little garland is charming wrapped around your tree, over the mantle, down the banister—anywhere you want a little woolly magic. We've even been known to wear it!

Small wreath: Approx. 14"/36cm finished diameter on 12"/30cm wreath form.
Large wreath: Approx. 20"/51cm finished diameter on 18"/46cm wreath form.
Garland: Approx. 4 yds/3.5m of length, per 110 yd/100m skein.

Small wreath shown in 2 skeins Fleece Artist Slubby Mix (110 yds/100m each), Color Natural. Or approx. 220 yds/201m of bulky-weight wool yarn.

Large wreath shown in 4 skeins Rowan Cocoon (126 yds/115m each), Color 808 Tundra.
Also shown in 4 skeins Fleece Artist Slubby Mix (110 yds/100m each), Color Natural. Or approx. 440 yds/402m of bulky-weight wool yarn.

Garland shown in 1 skein Fleece Artist Slubby Mix (110 yds/100m), Color Natural. Or approx. 110 yds/100m of bulky-weight wool yarn.

Wreath: US 15 (10mm) needles (straights recommended).
Garland: US 11 (8mm) double-point needles (two only).

Wreaths:12 (18)"/30 (46)cm boxed wire wreath form.
3 (4) yds/m of 4"/10cm strips of muslin fabric to match yarn color (optional).

Gauge is not critical to these pieces. You are after a loopy fabric that looks dense and lush when stretched to fit a wreath form. If you choose to use a smooth bulky-weight wool, you might make sure you have enough yarn on hand to make your strip longer—minimizing the stretch around the wreath form will help fill in any gaps.
