“Hat, muff, mittens & scarf in one pattern!”

Evoking enchanted woodlands and sweeping tundras, this romantic hat with its deep furry cuff frames the face beautifully. The muff is a charming little affectation that's actually quite practical. The simple scarf is the ultimate in coziness. And the mittens simply beg you to throw a snowball. The loop stitch is easily mastered and a whole lot of fun!

See the "Knitter's Notes" for helpful tips.

Muff: US 9 (5.5mm) 16"/40cm circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge, plus US 7 (4.5mm) 16"/40cm circular needles, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle, plus spare 16"/40cm circular needle US 7 (4.5mm) or smaller, and a US I (5.5mm) crochet hook for provisional cast-on.
Mittens: US 8 (5mm) double-points, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Scarf: US 9 (5.5mm) needles (any format), or size to obtain gauge.
All: Locking stitch markers.
Blunt darning needle to finish.

Hat & Muff: 16 sts/22 rows = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch in the round on larger needle.
Mittens: 17 sts/25 rows = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch in the round on larger needle.
Scarf: Approx. 14 sts = 4"/10cm in loop stitch.

With this stitch, it's helpful to check your stitch count often. If you miss a 'lift over', you can do it when you get to that stitch in the next round/row, before you knit or purl into it. If you accidentally 'lift over' twice, just sneak in an increase.
