The Design

The Ribbed Watch Cap is a favorite Churchmouse Classic. The single rib texture exudes equal parts sailor savvy and skateboard cool! The tubular cast-on is nice and comfy and the nifty, mitred decreases make for a neat finish. And with a nice, deep cuff, it’s especially cozy!

We’ve knit this version of our classic watch cap in Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light. Strong, sturdy, and gently plied, this fingering-weight yarn is spun from the fleece of Peruvian Highland sheep. It gives a lofty lightness and soft hand to your hand-knit fabric. And that lovely, heathered color palette inspired by the craggy, unspoiled terrain of Peru.

Small/Medium: 11" / 28cm tall fits large child to medium adult; 18-20" / 46-51cm head.
Medium/Large: 12½" / 32cm tall fits medium to large adult; 20-23" / 51-58cm head.

2 skeins Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light (218 yds/200m each); Or approx. 305 (350) yds / 279 (320)m of an equivalent fingering-weight yarn, including a 3½ (4)" / 9 (10)cm turn-up cuff.

NEEDLES
US 1 (2.25mm) 16" / 40cm circular and double-points, or size to obtain gauge.
US 0 (2mm) 16" / 40cm circular, or one size smaller than gauge size, for cast-on.

GAUGE
Approx. 44-48 sts / 48-50 rounds = 4" / 10cm in K1⁄P1 ribbing, not stretched. Gauge may vary; ribbing should be springy.

Errata & Clarifications

KNITTER'S NOTES
Kit notes that in her experience, working the double decreases up close on small double-points, is (not to put too fine a point on it) 'vigorous'. Make sure you use a good strong set of double-point needles. And remember to—as always—stop every so often to stretch.
