With a super-easy short-row shaping method at the toe and heel, it’s easy to master, easy to remember, easy to start, and easy to finish. Worked from the toe up, these socks are started with a provisional cast-on—no seam at the toe! Introduced at the 2019 Puget Sound LYS Tour, we’ve had great fun playing with variations ever since.

Yarn Source

Medium-width adult: Up to 10"/25cm foot on 8"/20cm cuff. For longer foot, knit shorter cuffs or purchase more yarn. Note: Finished sock length should be ½"/1.25cm shorter than actual foot length measured from back of heel to tip of toe.

1 skein Manos Alegría (445 yds/405m each).
Shown in Color 9817, Butia.
Or approx. 400 yds/366m fingering-weight sock yarn. Add or subtract 22 yds/20m per knitted 1"/2.5cm per pair.

US 1 (2.25mm) set of 5 double-point needles, or size to obtain gauge.
US D/3 (3.25mm) crochet hook for provisional cast-on.
1 yd/m smooth fingering-weight waste yarn for provisional cast-on.
1 locking marker.
Darning needle to finish.

Approx. 32 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
