Oxford Socks Pattern
The Design
“With German short-row toes & heels.”
One more smart little sock joins our roster of basic sock patterns. With a super-easy short-row shaping method at the toe and heel, it’s easy to master, easy to remember, easy to start, and easy to finish. Worked from the toe up, these socks are started with a provisional cast-on—no seam at the toe! Introduced at the 2019 Puget Sound LYS Tour, we’ve had great fun playing with variations ever since.
Choose a fine, superwash yarn with a high twist and a touch of nylon for long-wearing, pill-resistant Oxford Socks that are easy to care for. For an ultra-warm, ultra-comfy pair, we picked Regia Premium Merino Yak. For joyful, variegated color, we love Manos del Uruguay’s Alegría. And Lang Jawoll Superwash is a sock-knitting superstar.
This four-page pattern includes:
- Color photography by Laura Gehring
- Special Techniques
- Foot and Cuff Variations
- German Short-Rows
- Customizing Size
- Instructions for blocking and finishing your piece
