English Mesh Lace Scarf Pattern

The Design

“A lovely way to learn about lace.”

Our lace teacher Becky ffitch loves to coach new lace knitters with this simple but lovely stitch pattern. A four+four-row repeat and easy-to-see centered stitch alignments make this the perfect pattern for learning to ‘read’ your knitting. It’s a relaxing and satisfying knit for accomplished lace knitters, too. A little beading gilds the lily.

KNITTER'S NOTES

If you're new to lace knitting, you may want to consider using a smooth, dk-weight yarn. It is much easier to 'read' your knitting when the individual stitches are clear and distinct. Our customers have had success with yarns like the Manos Silk Blend we list in our pattern.

Whichever yarn you choose, consider the first few inches of knitting to be your swatch. After knitting 5" or so, stop and block your knitting. Blocking can be as simple as pinning your knitting out, slightly stretched, and carefully applying a bit of steam. Let everything dry completely and unpin. Does your lace pattern stay in place? Do you like the way it looks? If so, carry on. If not, you may want to change needle size and try again.
