Color Play Mohair Scarf Using Rowan Kidsilk Haze

“Compulsively knitable.”

Have fun playing with color—glowing, silky soft Kidsilk Haze color! Watching what comes next is so much fun. For the scarf project, we mixed four solid colors—two at a time—to create shaded color blocking. Try mixing tonal colors for ombré shading, or cross the color wheel for graphic punch! It may be impossible to stop at just one scarf project.

See the "Knitters Notes" for helpful tips.

Shown in Rowan Kidsilk Haze

Kidsilk Haze inspires us so much that we've chosen it for several Churchmouse designs. Knit on small needles, it's delicate and fine. On larger needles, it's light as a breath. Double-stranded it makes a perfect, lofty DK-weight. As a strand-along, it softens the hand of crisper yarns and blurs the edges of busy variegations. And, of course, it makes extraordinarily luxurious lace.

Yarn Source

Jimmy Beans Wool

Scarf: approx. 12"/30cm wide x 57"/145cm long, after blocking.

4 skeins Rowan Kidsilk Haze (229 yds/210m each) in different colors.

US 7 (4.5mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge; darning needle to finish.

Approx. 20 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

You'll be working with a double strand of yarn throughout. And remember, each scarf will be unique—simply splice in your new color anywhere in the row and notice that each one of your blocks will vary in length. It really is fun to see what blooms from your needles!
