Equally handsome in solid colors or variegated shades, this scarf can be worn any number of ways. And the simple little handwarmers will keep you toasty indoors or out!

TUTORIALS IN THIS PATTERN:

  • Combining stitches
  • Mattress-stitch seaming

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, and keeping row edges straight. Need help with any of these techniques? See our Learn-To-Crochet Companion booklet.

Shown in Manos Maxima

A plump and lush single-ply worsted weight in great colors, Maxima is a cuddly yarn with lots of possibilities. Perfect for beginners: It's easy to work with (single-ply, no splitting) and will produce a beautiful first project. It's better to start a beginner off with a decent yarn. We're not sure how the women at the Manos del Uruguay Cooperative manage to make the Maxima colors so deep and enticing, but they've proven themselves to be masters at it.
