Reversible Cable Neck Wrap & Scarf Using Rowan Kid Classic

“One big, luscious, lofty cable.”

This cable is in a reversible rib so it's just as gorgeous on both sides. Wrap the shorter version various ways with a pin or a big button. We sewed two tweedy buttons together back-to-back for a jumbo 'cuff link' and buttoned them through the holes created by the cable twist. You can share the long, handsome muffler with a man if you like.

Shown in Rowan Kid Classic

This cable is in a reversible rib so it's just as gorgeous on both sides! The pattern includes a detailed chart that shows you how to knit this cable. In this version, we held two strands together.

Yarn Source

Neck wrap: Approx. 7 x 30" / 18 x 76cm.
Scarf: Approx. 7 x 80" / 18 x 203 cm.

Neck wrap: (in the lighter yarn) 2 skeins Rowan Kid Classic (153 yds / 140m each), Color 828. Or approx. 300 yds / 274m of an equivalent worsted-weight yarn held double throughout.

Scarf: (in the darker yarn) 6 skeins Rowan Kid Classic (153 yds/140m each), Color 866. Or approx. 900 yds / 823m of an equivalent worsted-weight yarn held double throughout.

US 13 (9mm), or size to obtain gauge.
Large cable needle.

Approx. 18 sts = 4" / 10cm in K1⁄P1 ribbing, not stretched, yarn held double.

Because of the reversibility of this piece, use a locking marker to mark the right side of your work. You'll be able to keep your place at a glance—and we're all trying to get better at reading our knitting! In that vein, notice that you're always putting an even number of stitches onto your cable needle, in knit and purl pairs.

This piece really is luxurious. If you substitute a yarn, make sure it has some loft and 'squeezability'. While you're knitting, don't forget to stop every once in a while to give your work a hug. Yum!
