Colorwork Cuffs & Mittens Using Rowan Fine Tweed

“Mmm... tweedy warmth.”

They say that if you keep your pulse points warm, you’ll stay warm all over. These tweedy cuffs prove that theory nicely. And you can turn the cozy quotient up or down for outdoors or in. Pick a colorwork chart, an edging, then finish as little cuffs, fingerless gloves or full mittens. Add color choice to the mix and the possibilities are infinite!

The cuffs are surprisingly warm and practical. Make a pair to peek from under your coat sleeves, grab your wellies and go for a walk! Don a pair of fingerless gloves for knitting outdoors or texting on the go. Or keep your precious knitting digits toasty and fully covered with the adorable and festive mittens!

The pattern includes helpful information about color dominance that will help you be consistent and make the most of contrasting colors. When choosing your yarns, make sure you choose enough contrast between the colors. Start with foolproof high-contrast color combinations, then branch out—be sure to swatch to confirm your selection. You won’t regret taking the time to do this.

Stranded colorwork knitting benefits tremendously from wet blocking – it evens up the stitches, adds loft and fullness to the yarn, and can even make the items warmer! It also helps you lose the 'raw' look of an item that’s fresh off the needles. More time well spent!
