Welted Fingerless Gloves Using Rowan Felted Tweed

This one-skein pattern quickly became a fast favorite. Wear them when knitting outdoors on a chilly day. Or layer them over your fine leather gloves when the temperature drops. Live in a temperate zone? Choose a cooler yarn and they’re all about style.

FINISHED SIZE
Women’s medium: 6½"/16cm around palm (for smaller hands, use smaller needles throughout).
YARN
1 skein Rowan Felted Tweed (191 yds/175m each). Shown in Color 181 Mineral.
Or approx. 100 yds/91m of an equivalent DK-weight yarn.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 6 (4mm) double-points, or size to obtain gauge.
US 5 (3.75mm) double-points, or one size smaller than gauge size.
Optional: 6–10 small buttons.
GAUGE
Approx. 23 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch.
KNITTER'S NOTES
Some knitters have trouble with the thumb directions. It is a wordy patch, isn't it? Stick it out though, because the thumb bind-off is quite tidy. It might help to have someone read the directions out loud to you.
While buttons are optional, if you add them, you create a left and a right glove. Otherwise your gloves are reversible. Something to consider!
