Very Gifted Cowl - Lace Lux Version

Very Gifted Cowl - Lace Lux Version

"Amazing liquid drape with a metallic sheen."

Our gift to you this season: a super-versatile cowl pattern that is simplicity itself, with details for eight yarn weights so you can use almost any yarn (or combination of yarns) you like. Here, we've chosen Lana Grossa Lace Lux, a slinky-soft fingering-weight yarn that boasts a rich metallic luster.

We held Lace Lux double-stranded here and knitted it as a light worsted. The resulting fabric has the most amazing liquid drape, guaranteed to elicit 'ooh's and 'aah's from knitters and non-knitters alike!

Our sample shown here yielded 7-1/2" of knitted depth from just a single skein, but the pattern lists yardage requirements for each knitted inch of depth so you’ll know just how far more skeins can go. Make one for you, one for a friend!

Click on "The Free Pattern" tab to see the pattern. And then choose a shade of Lana Grossa Lace Lux. Happy knitting!

FINISHED SIZE
28"/71cm circumference; 1 skein yielded 7-1/2"/19cm depth.

YARN
1 skein Lana Grossa Lace Lux (310 yds/283m each), shown in Color 040.
Or approx. 310 yds/283m of a fingering-weight yarn held doubled.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 8 (5mm) 24"/60cm circular, or size to obtain gauge.
Optional: one US 10 (6mm) needle, or two sizes larger than gauge needle, for bind-off.
Stitch marker.
Darning needle to finish.

GAUGE
Approx. 18 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch in the round, blocked.

See the "Basic Details" tab for size, yarn, needle, and gauge information.

Cast On: Using cable cast-on method, cast on 126 stitches. Do not join in the round yet.

Edging row (right side): Purl. At end of row, do not turn. Place marker on right needle and join to work in round, being careful not to twist.

Stockinette stitch: Knit every round until work measures desired depth and you have at least 4 yds/3.5m of yarn left to bind off.

Bind off:Bind off purlwise, working loosely (or using larger needle in right hand) to match tension of cast-on edge. Or, turn work so inside of cowl is facing you and bind off knitwise.

Finishing: Weave in ends on wrong side. Gently steam- or wet-block; allow to dry, turning occasionally to avoid setting creases. Pop it on, or wrap it up!
