Vale Cardigan - Rowan Denim Version

Vale Cardigan - Rowan Denim Version

"Pretty in lace."

From Kim Hargreaves’ latest collection, Wilder, comes Valea semi-fitted cardigan with a pretty, eyelet edging. Panels of lace create a crisp texture while the slightly fitted form tucks in at the waist for a feminine silhouette. Imagine a more delicate, elegant version of your favorite jean jacket!

Knit flat in pieces which are seamed together when the knitting's complete. Rowan's Original Denim gives Vale's fabric a firm structure, ideal for showing off all that lovely lacework! Breathable cotton fiber and substantial all at once, and like all denim, Vale will soften and fade gently over time.

Pattern is written out in clear text, and includes detailed charts and a sketched diagram for measurement guidance. See Knitter's Notes for information on gauge, dye and shrinkage.

Denim will shrink in length when washed for the first time. Allowances have been made in this Rowan pattern for shrinkage - please refer to the size diagram for after washing measurements.

Gauge should be measured before washing.

Also, for pieced garments, some prefer to first machine wash and dry (warm) until just damp all the separate pieces (along with some hanked yarn for seaming) to shrink them before seaming. (Some prefer to seam first and then wash and dry.) Either way, your finished piece will shrink and fade beautifully.

Finally, remember that Rowan's Original Denim has a unique dying process, where only the surface absorbs color. Extra color sits on the yarn’s surface and will come off onto your hands and needles while you’re working. It washes off your hands very easily (not so, alas, for wooden needles; we use metal ones). We suggest protecting your clothing while you work. Most of the loose dye will come off your finished project in the first wash, leaving a slightly faded denim look.
