Mohair Bias Loop Project - Beaded Version

Mohair Bias Loop Project - Beaded Version

"Enjoy a bit of sparkle–add beads!"

We love the delicate, feminine touch and hint of twinkle that beads add to a knitted piece. The options of bead placement and color are perfect for personalizing a classic pattern. Recently, in our search for a wee bit of pre-holiday sparkle, Kit knit up a Mohair Bias Loop with our tiny Mill Hill glass seed beads. The result was gorgeous! Kidsilk Haze’s mohair/silk fabric combined with seed beads add up to a lightly warm, elegant and subtly sparkly accessory that you’ll wear long after it graces your shoulders at the holiday parties.

Kit chose beads in color #18081 Anthracite to complement Kidsilk Haze in color #639 Anthracite (shown at left). You’ll find some of our new favorite bead-yarn combinations below. (See our size 8 bead and Kidsilk Haze pages if you would rather select your own.) Pick up the Churchmouse Mohair Bias Loop pattern below, if you don’t already own it, select your beads and yarn, and bring a little sparkle to your shoulders. (If you just want the adaptation for adding beads, you'll find that separately below.)

This pattern has long been a shop favorite. It's a versatile, stylish, easy-to-throw-on kind of piece. The knitting is a pleasure too, with the simply biased stockinette fabric.

If there is a sticky part, it comes with the grafting—we recommend setting aside a couple of hours where you can begin and end the grafting. Once you've begun you won't want to stop. If you've not grafted before, we suggest a practice session; knit up a couple of 24-stitch swatches and follow the grafting instructions. You'll get into a grafting rhythm in no time and emerge an expert!

Don't be intimidated by placing beads in your knitting! We have a photo tutorial on our Ravelry group that walks you through the easy steps for placing beads. You'll love the results.
