Last-Minute Cowl Using Blue Sky Fibers Bulky

Last-Minute Cowl Using Blue Sky Fibers Bulky

"Striking, squishy seed stitch!"

It’s not just a name—the Last-Minute Cowl will knit up right quick! Use large needles (US 17/12mm, in fact!), a super-chunky-weight yarn (or a combination of yarns to reach super-chunky gauge), and choose a stitch from the free pattern—mistake rib, seed stitch, or two-by-two rib. The results are gorgeous and incredibly warm. Knit one to give, give one to knit, or treat yourself.

We knit this cowl in the super-chunky-weight Blue Sky Fibers Bulky—a single-ply fiber that’s half alpaca (for softness), half wool (for spring), and wholly bulky (for speed)! Its generous scale renders the simple seed stitch striking. It promises a Last-Minute Cowl that’s big on squeeze and cozy!

See the Free Pattern tab for our Last-Minute Cowl pattern. Then choose your color below—you'll need 2 skeins.

Seed-stitch version: Using cable cast-on method, cast on 59 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist. Place marker to denote beginning of round.
Round 1: (K1, P1) to last st, K1.
Round 2: (P1, K1) to last st, P1.
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until desired depth and you have just enough yarn left to bind off.

Round 1: (K2, P2) to end of round.

Mistake-rib version: Using cable cast-on method, cast on 60 sts. Do not join; work one row flat as follows: K1, P2, (K2, P2) to last st, end K1. Place locking marker onto needle and join in the round, being careful not to twist. Continue in mistake rib as follows: Round 1: (K2, P2) around.
Round 2: K1, P2, (K2, P2) to last st, end K1.
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until desired depth and you have just enough yarn left to bind off.
