Laine: Nordic Knit Life - Issue Seven

"Beauty born from collaboration."

In her introduction to the Winter/Spring 2019 issue of Laine, the Nordic Knit and Lifestyle Magazine, editor Jonna Hietala writes, “The most beautiful stories and the most successful tales are born from collaboration.” In this issue, as in all others, she reflects on the friendships and joy found in knitting and the community of makers and thinkers brought together from all over the world by the same interests—natural fibers, slow living, and local craftsmanship.

The Laine team has created an informative and inspiring issue with gorgeous photography (set on the strikingly rustic landscape of Finland’s Lapland, north of the Arctic Circle) and lovely writing.

Laine is an insight into the craft that is the foundation of strong, international relationships. Stories of makers from all around the world—including Finnish designer Veera Välimäki, Irish dyer Emma Robinson of The Woolly Mammoth, Daphne Marinopoulos of The Fibre Co., and knitwear designer Annie Rowden—are interspersed with 12 knitting patterns by leading designers, exciting travel articles (London!), seasonal recipes, and strong, poetic storytelling.

Laine Magazine, Issue 7; softcover, 139 pgs, 12 designs.
