Lacy Ribbed Scarf - Shibui Silk Cloud Version

Lacy Ribbed Scarf - Shibui Silk Cloud Version

"Gorgeous, gauzy, gossamer."

Lace and ribbing combine in this simple, sweet, and silky scarf. A breeze to knit, it’s an easy skill-builder for knitters new to lace, and a relaxing project for those more experienced. And once it’s finished—what a gorgeous, gauzy, gossamer adornment!

In this free pattern, we used a double strand of Shibui Silk Cloud—a miraculous silk and mohair blend that lends a weightless luster to delicate lacework.

To make the size shown, you'll need just one skein. (Pull from the inside and outside of your wound skein to double-strand.) If you got a second skein, you could make a bigger scarf -- and you won't have to stop knitting when you finish the first skein.

Click on "The Free Pattern" tab to see the scarf pattern.
You'll need 1 skein of Silk Cloud to make the size shown; for the larger scarf, you'll need 2 skeins. We've chosen a few favorite shades below, but for a full selection of colors, just head over to the Shibui Silk Cloud page.

Blocking: Soak in tepid water with a little no-rinse wool soap for 15−20 minutes. Gently squeeze out as much water as possible. Roll in a towel and squeeze out more moisture, or place in a lingerie bag and run through spin-only cycle in washing machine.

On long edges, weave blocking wires in and out one stitch in from edge. Pin wires out to desired width, at same time stretching to desired length. Pin short edges.

Note: If not using blocking wires, pin out entire piece to measurements, spacing pins quite close together to avoid scallops on long edges.

Allow to dry thoroughly. Gently steam-press using press cloth.
