Jolly Wee Elf Kit Using Elemental Affects
Jolly Wee Elf Kit Using Elemental Affects
"Wool you be my Valentine?"
Our wee friends want to help you celebrate Valentine's Day! These handmade pals have certainly dressed up for the occasion. Given with some chocolate, presented with a package, or perched among flowers—who could resist?
We’ve created a sweet, Valentine's Day-inspired colorway from Elemental Affects Shetland Fingering yarn—a light, bouncy wool that lends hand-dyed color to the elves.
Each kit gives you everything you need for a wee tribe of 12 elves, or 6 larger elves (the Jolly Wee Elf pattern is sold separately). Includes 3 colors of body/accessory yarn, 2 skeins of Crewel Wool 984 for face color, darning needle and washers. As an option, we offer three various shades of Appleton for customizing skin tone (sold separately) and extra washer packs.
Tiny wee elf: Approx. 3½"/9cm tall, or desired height.
Larger wee elf: Approx. 4½"/11.5cm tall, or desired height.
3 skeins Elemental Affects Shetland Fingering (118 yds/107m each): 1 each of three colors; 2 skeins Appleton Crewel Wool (27 yds/25m each) in color 984 Bisque for face.
Package of twelve 3/8" zinc washers (1" diameter) and tapestry needle.

Tiny wee elf: US 1½ (2.5mm) double-points (set of five), or size to obtain gauge.
Larger wee elf: US 3 (3.25mm) double-points (set of five), or size to obtain gauge.
One locking marker.
Wool batting or polyester stuffing.
Tiny wee elf: 28–32 sts=4"/10cm in stockinette stitch worked in the round.
Larger wee elf: 24-26 sts=4"/10cm in stockinette stitch worked in the round.
Note: Gauge is not critical, but you want a firm fabric so your stuffing does not show through.
If using Elemental Affects Shetland Fingering for the DK-weight version of our elves (aka the "larger wee elf"), simply hold yarn double throughout body, hat and scarf. Appleton Crewel needs to be held quadruple stranded for the face. Our kit here (with three skeins of Elemental Affects) yields approximately six larger wee elves.
Please refer to the original pattern for complete instructions. Only changes are covered in this adaptation.
For a tiny wee elf, hold the Shetland Fingering yarn single and the crewel yarn double.
For a larger wee elf, hold the Shetland Fingering yarn double and the crewel yarn quadruple.
Instructions are given for the tiny wee elf; larger wee elf in parentheses ( ).
