Beanies are everywhere these days for good reasona great shape on almost every head, and this one fits even the biggest Mouse noggin with a little room to sparenot slouchy, but also not too snug. Holding two strands of Rowan Kid Classic on larger needles makes this cushy, soft topper a speedy knit. Done in no time!

And you'll have lots of fun playing with color combinations. Keep the colors close in value like our samplecreamy and pale grey, or play with higher contrast for more pop.  Over twenty shades to choose from!

Approx. 19"/48cm unstretched; fits medium adult.

Rowan Kid Classic (153 yds/140m each) held double: 1 skein if doubling same color, 2 skeins if using 2 colors. Or approx. 70 yds/64m of bulky yarn held single. Shown in Feather-Pumice.

US 11 (8mm) 16"/40cm circular needle and double-points, or size to obtain gauge.
US 10 1/2 (6.5mm) 16"/40cm circular needle (or one size smaller than gauge needle).
Five markers, one in contrasting color.
Darning needle to finish.

13 sts = 4:/10cm in stockinette stitch on larger needle, after blocking.

GLOSSARY: K = knit; K2tog = knit 2 stitches together; P = purl; St(s) = stitch(es).

Cast on: Holding yarn double, with smaller needle cast on 60 sts using cable cast-on method. Do not join yet.

Ribbed edge: Row 1: *K2, P2*, repeat between * * to end. Place contrasting marker; join in round, being careful not to twist.
Rounds 1–9: *K2, P2*, repeat between * * to end, slipping marker.

Straight section: Change to larger circular needles; knit every round, slipping marker as you go, until work measures 5¼"/13cm, or desired length (decrease rounds will add approx. 2¾"/7cm); on last round, place a marker every 12 sts.

Decrease rounds: Note: Change to double-point needles when necessary.
Round 1: *Knit to 2 sts before marker, K2tog*; repeat between * * to end. [5 sts decreased]
Round 2: Knit.
Repeat Round 1 only until 5 sts remain; remove markers during last round.

Finishing: Cut yarn leaving 8"/20cm tail. With darning needle, thread tail through remaining sts; draw up tightly. Weave in ends on inside. Steam gently if desired.
