Ribbed from top to bottom, our woolly cuffs give you the look of thick cozy socks, but fit nicely into your boots. Smooth stirrups keep them seated. Worked in the round, boot cuffs are a nice, easy 'warm-up' before you tackle your first pair of socks.

The Details

FINISHED SIZE
One size stretches to fit up to a 15"/38cm boot top circumference. To fit boot height (excluding heel): ankle boot 6"/15cm; short boot 11"/28cm; tall boot 15½"/39cm; finished height includes 4"/10cm fold-down cuff.

YARN
Ankle boot cuff: Shown lower right: 2 skeins Rowan Kid Classic (153 yds/140m each), Color 832. Or approx. 240 yds/219m of an equivalent worsted-weight yarn.
Short boot cuff: Shown lower left and center, in red: 4 skeins Rowan Tweed Aran (105 yds/96m each), Color 776 Bainbridge with stripes in Color 771 Keld. Or approx. 340 yds/311m of an equivalent worsted-weight yarn.
Tall boot cuff: Shown lower left, in brown: 5 skeins Jamieson's Shetland Heather (100 yds/92m each), Color 888 Broch. Or approx. 460 yds/421m of an equivalent worsted-weight yarn.

NEEDLES
US 5 (3.75mm) double-points, or size to obtain gauge.
US 8 (5mm) needle, or three sizes larger than gauge needle, for bind off.

GAUGE
Approx. 28 sts = 4"/10cm in K2/P2 ribbing, not stretched.

KNITTER'S NOTES
These cuffs are an excellent first project on double-point needles. And they make a great gift, knitting up quickly to look good in any boot. We think they hit that sweet spot between style and practicality. Everyone wins!

Your yarn choice may dramatically affect the yardage you require. When we tested these cuffs originally, we used Jamieson's Shetland Heather for a pair of 11"/28cm cuffs and used a total of 225 yds/206m. When we knit a second pair in Rowan Tweed Aran we used 340 yds/311m! When in doubt, buy yarn generously. We'll happily take back your full unused skeins when you finish.
