Alpaca 4 is a cozy member of Catherine Lowe’s meticulously crafted yarn family. Sourced in Peru, this 100% royal baby alpaca yarn creates fabric as soft as cashmere, with a lustrous, silky drape and gentle halo. (Did you know? In ‘royal’ alpaca, the fibers used are usually less than 19 microns, which is cashmere’s average count!)

Like her other bespoke yarns, Catherine receives this fiber in single, thread-like strands which she then hand-winds (yes, hand-winds!) into individual skeins. Alpaca 4 consists of four strands wound parallel (not twisted). Knitting with un-twisted strands means that the knit fabric’s stitch structure is extremely stable and has stunning definition. Garments and accessories will retain their shape and appearance through countless wears and washes!
