Or approx. 810 yds/740m (1700 yds/1555m, 100 yds/91m) light worsted-weight cotton yarn.

US 5 (3.75mm) 24-32" circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
2 stitch markers.
Tapestry needle to finish.
GAUGE
22 sts/32 rows = 4"/10cm in block stitch pattern, after blocking.

Blankets begin and end with a 12 (18, 6) row seed stitch border; the middle section is worked in block stitch with seed stitch borders on each side. Block stitch pattern is worked in a 10 (20, 12) stitch repeat.
Cast on: Using cable cast-on method, cast on 148 (216, 56). Note: To make blanket or throw wider or narrower, add or subtract sts in multiples of 12 (24, 12).
FIRST SEED STITCH BORDER
Row 1: *K1, P1*, repeat between * * to end.
Row 2: *P1, K1*, repeat between * * to end.
Repeat these two rows 5 (8, 2) more times.
MIDDLE SECTION (BLOCK STITCH)
Rows 1-8 (1-16, 1-8):Work first 8 (12, 4) sts in seed st as established, PM, *K6 (12, 6), P6 (12, 6)*, repeat between * * 10 (7, 3) more times, PM, work last 8 (12, 4) sts in seed st as established.
Note: On all subsequent rows, slip markers as you come to them
Rows 9−16 (17−32, 9-16): Work first 8 (12, 4) sts in seed st as established, *P6 (12, 6), K6 (12, 6)*, repeat between * * to marker, work last 8 (12, 4) sts in seed st as established.
Repeat these 16 (32, 16) rows 11 (8, 3) more times or to desired length, reserving enough yarn for final seed st border, approx. 45 yds/42m (100 yds/92m).
FINAL SEED STITCH BORDER
Row 1: Work in seed st, beginning as established, removing markers. Work 11 (17, 5) more rows in seed st. Bind off loosely in pattern.
Finishing: Weave in ends as invisibly as possible (there is no ‘wrong side’). Gently steam press. Or wet block in washer and dryer and pull into shape when damp.
