We love the idea of a cool cotton accessory to knit for summer―the added fringe on Isi makes it even better! Like Karen Templer of Fringe Association fame, our 'inner-hippie' normally remains hidden, but, boy, we danced when we saw that fringe! Knit in Berroco's Indigo, a soft cotton yarn created from recycled denim jeans, this fun, on-trend scarf will fly off the needles.
You'll need two skeins for the scarf, and don't forget the pattern download, too. If you’d like to learn more about the yarn, just head over to the Berroco Indigo page.
Please note: you will use every inch of yarn for this scarf. If your gauge is a little off, you may run out of yarn for the fringe. You can order a third skein for "just in case", or you can end the scarf a couple of rows early―see our "Knitters' Notes" tab for details.
Approx. 58" across top x 12" down center (after blocking and not including fringe).
2 skeins Berroco Indigo, (219 yds/200m each). Shown on dressform in color 'High Rise' #6432; shown on model in color 'Jean' #6414.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 7 (4.5mm) 29" circular needles, or size to obtain gauge;
Blocking wires and t-pins for finishing (optional).
Approx. 20 sts and 28 rows to = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch.
Becky knitted through Row 16 of final repeat of pattern (225 sts) then bound off in order to have enough yarn for fringe. She bound off the first and last 6 stitches with conventional bind off for sharper points. In between those stitches, she used the bind-off given in pattern (it's nice and stretchy).
The fringe used 112 groups of three 12" strands - cut 336 strands total.
