The Design

"Diamonds, stripes, & stars."

The Bainbridge Tam & Cowl are gorgeous, striking examples of stranded colorwork, designed by Mary Pranica for Blue Sky Fibers. A lovely pattern reminiscent of Fair Isle or Norwegian colorwork circles the brim of the hat, which is then finished with a beautiful star-patterned crown. The matching cowl features both diamonds and broad stripes—you can reverse the cowl to show one pattern or the other! (Plus, dontcha just love the name?)

Both of these cozy accessories are knit in five colors of Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light. Strong, sturdy, and gently plied, this fingering-weight yarn is spun from the fleece of Peruvian Highland sheep. It gives a lofty lightness and soft hand to your hand-knit fabric. And that lovely, heathered color palette was inspired by the craggy, unspoiled terrain of Peru.

The Bainbridge Tam & Cowl project is available in a kit created for us by Blue Sky Fibers. In each kit, you’ll receive the pattern and all the yarn you need to complete the projects. If you’d like to put together your own five-color colorway, travel on over to the Woolstok Light page!
