The Design

From the lovely Shannon Cook, comes another impossible-to-resist shawl! Our version, knit in the woolen-spun Shelter from Brooklyn Tweed, has the substance, weight, and warmth of a worsted-weight shawl, with a drape and delicate grace that we love―warm but somehow lighter than air. The pattern contains beautiful photographs with several styling examples, and is written out thoroughly, guiding you row by row. Amberle is worked from the center neck down and out with rhythmic, textural slip and wrap stitches, and finished with a sweeping wide border.

The Details

FINISHED SIZE
74" along top of wingspan and 33" deep (blocked).

YARN
4 skeins Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (50g, 140 yds/128m each) in main color;
2 skeins Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (50g, 140 yds/128m each) in edge color;
Shown in Tent (main color) and Snowbound (edge color).

Please note: Color Tent has been retired and is no longer available.

NEEDLES
US 9 (5.5mm) 24-32" circular needle, or size to obtain gauge. (Note: pattern calls for a US 7/4.5mm; we had to go up two needle sizes to get the pattern gauge with Shelter.)

GAUGE
15 sts and 23 rows = 4"/10cm in st st, blocked. (Note: Shelter wet blocks easily to the finished gauge.)

NOTIONS
Blocking wires and T-pins for finishing (optional).
Darning needle for finishing.
