The Design

When Boston-based author and long-time Chuchmouse friend, Alexandra Dane attended a writing retreat in Seattle, she stopped by the shop wearing a scarf that turned our heads. It was just the kind of thing we love—simple, simple, simple! Just a sheer tube pressed flat, we’ve knit it again and again.

In Rowan Kidsilk Haze Colour, Alexandra’s Airplane Scarf gains delightful, watercolor-like shading. This lovely yarn has the same fiber blend (mohair and silk) and weight (a light-as-air lace-weight) as beloved Kidsilk Haze. It’s the soft, diffuse color palette from designer Lisa Richardson that sets it apart!

FINISHED SIZE
Approx. 13"/33cm across (26"/66cm circumference) by 60"/152cm long, after blocking.

YARN
2 skeins Rowan Kidsilk Haze Colour (459 yds/420m each); Or approx. 916 yds/838m of an equivalent lace-weight mohair yarn.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 8 (5mm) 16-24"/40-60cm circular needles, or size to obtain gauge.
Darning needle to finish.
Blocking wires and/or pins, steam iron and press cloth, for blocking.

GAUGE
Approx. 18 sts/25 rows = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch worked in the round, after blocking.

KNITTER'S NOTES
To wear as a cowl, reach inside and pull one end through to meet the other; slip over your head.
