A Note from Kit - April 2020

Back

Hello to our dear friends and colleagues, near and far.

I keep a little note over my desk that a member of our team gave me many months ago. It says, "Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you." It's by the wonderful Anne Lamott, that master of distilling the overwhelming to a refreshing droplet.

OK, I know this "unplugging" of our world is for more than a few minutes this time, but I like to believe the sentiment still holds. I can't help but think, a little sheepishly, of all the times I've wished the world would stop for a week or two so I could catch up. Well, I guess now's my chance—as they say, be careful what you wish for!

Here at Churchmouse, we've moved from "there's this virus" to "door pick-up service only" to "online service only" to "everybody stay home" at lightning speed. It has been humbling. Even surreal. Each revised plan mocks our hubris. But we'll keep putting one foot in front of the other. (I'd better cast on some new socks!)

As we separate to stay safe, we so appreciate the goodwill and kindness of our team members as they wave a brave "goodbye", and we keep faith that it is just "for now."

We also appreciate the kind understanding and patience of our dear customers, vendors, landlords, and so many others, as we muddle through together.

We hope you'll stay in touch through email, our Ravelry group and other social media. We'll do our very best to be there for you in every way we can.

With gratitude,
Kit and John
