Beth Russell - Samplers

"Useful or beautiful—both is even better."

Beth Russell is perhaps best known for her needlepoint designs based on English designer William Morris' work at the end of the 19th century. These two kits offer stitched versions of Morris' words, accented with his twisting vines and stems. With their versatile finished size, either kit will make into a lovely wall hanging or accent pillow.

Morris wrote "Love is Enough" in 1872, inspired by the Welsh saga, The Mabinogion. Beth Russell's needlepoint interpretation is from the book's front cover.

The William Morris Sampler offers a stitched version of one of Morris' most famous quotes: "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."
