The Design

Our Basic Beanie knit in a chunky yarn will be on your head in—if not a few hours—a few nights of knitting! A short band of ribbing at the edge and those familiar, swirling decreases at the crown give it a cute, casual look. Is it any wonder this is one of our favorite freebies?

We think super fun, super-chunky-weight Manos Franca adds a happy little spark to our most Basic Beanie. A single ply of superwash merino wool, this soft and fluffy yarn also has a certain touch of spunky charm—it must be the bright, playfully speckled colors!

FINISHED SIZES
Adult Medium (Adult Large): Approx. 20 (22)"/51 (56)cm around x 10"/25.5cm deep.
Note: Hat will stretch to fit head 2"/5cm larger than finished circumference.

YARN
1 skein Manos Franca (114 yds/105m each); Or approx.60 (75) yds of an equivalent super-chunky weight yarn.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 13 (9mm) 16" circular & double-point needles, or size to obtain gauge.
US 11 (8mm) 16" circular or double-point needles, or one size smaller than gauge needle.
5 stitch markers, 1 in a different color.
Darning needle to finish.

GAUGE
10 sts = 4" in stockinette stitch.
