Spate Mitts Using Brooklyn Tweed Shelter

Spate Mitts Using Brooklyn Tweed Shelter

"The look of cables without cabling."

From Jane Richmond and Shannon Cook's second book, "Journey," these textured fingerless mitts with foldover cuffs will be perfect for those walks in the crisp Autumn evenings to come. And Brooklyn Tweed Shelter's puffy loftiness suits this textured pattern well.

The beautiful thing about this pattern is that it's a simple stitch that creates a complicated design; you get the look of cables without having to cable. Freshy said, "No shaping, no increasing for thumb gussets, just a straight up, easy to remember pattern!"

Freshy worked up hers in the smaller size out of one skein of Shelter, but if you want to make the M-L size, you'll squeak into a second skein (use the leftovers to make a hat, maybe?).

Grab the pattern book below (if you don't already own it) along with your favorite yarn color. We've selected some shades of Shelter that should make the cables "pop!" To see all the colors, head over to the Brooklyn Tweed Shelter page. You'll need 1 skein for the XS-S size gloves, or 2 for the M-L size.
