Berroco Pima 100 a is an excellent pick for our Simple Sachet. In this worsted-weight yarn, four plies of pure, long-staple Peruvian cotton are tightly spun together. The result produces soft, smooth fabric with a solid durability that lasts. Wonderful for these useful little sachets!

US 6 (4mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge.
Darning needle to finish.
15"/38cm ribbon per sachet.

Approx. 21 sts = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

Glossary:
K = knit; K2Tog = knit 2 sts together; P = purl; RS = right side; St(s) = stitch(es); WS = wrong side; YO = yarn over (bring yarn forward between needles, then back over right needle).

Sachet:
Using cable cast-on method, cast on 31 sts.
Row 1 (RS): Knit to end.
Row 2 (WS): Purl to end.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures approx. 31⁄2"/9cm, ending with Row 2.
Eyelet row (RS): K2, *YO, K2Tog*; repeat between * * to last st, K1.
Starting with a purl row, work 5 more rows in stockinette stitch (K on RS, P on WS), ending with WS row.
Work either plain or eyelet picot bind-off as directed below.

Plain bind-off:
With RS facing, bind off all sts knitwise. Cut yarn, leaving 18"/46cm tail for seaming.

Eyelet picot bind-off:
With RS facing, bind off 3 sts knitwise; *(YO, lift first st on right needle over YO) 3 times, bind off 3 sts*; repeat between * * to end. Cut yarn, leaving 18"/46cm tail for seaming.

Finishing:
Gently steam press with press cloth on WS. Fold width in half, wrong sides together. With bind-off tail, sew up side and cast-on edge using mattress stitch. Weave in all ends on WS.
Loosely stuff muslin tea bag with your choice of filling (try lavender buds or moth mix) and insert into sachet. Note: You can use a sturdy paper tea bag or sew up your muslin bag to fit. Thread ribbon through eyelets; draw up tight and tie in a bow.
