On the Move, Part Two

Posted by Churchmouse Yarns & Teas on

We have spent the last several weeks settling into our new space in Kingston, Washington. We're surprised by how quickly the time has passed—and how quickly this beautiful building has become our home. Considering our close-knit staff and that we're surrounded by our favorite yarns and teas, perhaps it shouldn't be too surprising. We've brought so much of what makes Churchmouse Churchmouse along with us! Of course, this includes you and our kind, supportive community. And so, we'd love to share a glimpse into the new Churchmouse Studio and give you an idea of our plans and hopes within this lovely space.

A VERDANT SETTING

The Churchmouse Yarns & Teas Studio is surrounded by natural beauty and filled with natural light.

One of the many gifts of our Studio space is its lovely location. On the site of what was once Savage Plants Nursery—well-loved in the North Kitsap community for decades—the building is nestled in an artfully verdant setting. The touch of the nursery remains in pretty landscaping and nearby greenhouses. As a result, the view from our office windows is soothing and inspiring.

Our familiar sign looks handsome above our new entrance—if we do say so ourselves.

It's so refreshing to look out on all that green!

We're also lucky in our new neighbors. Sharing the site is an herbal aesthetician and a native tree nursery. Our lovely landlord, Storie Home & Garden, will be creating periodic, French-style, vintage home and garden markets, too. With plenty of parking and space for gathering, we know we have lots of events to look forward to in the months to come!

A NEW VISION

Our intention for this new iteration of Churchmouse Yarns & Teas is that it's a design studio—a place of creativity, collaboration, and service. Here, we have space to design Churchmouse Classics patterns, develop knitting projects, get to know new yarns, experiment with new combinations of familiar favorites, and play with new ideas. Though the bulk of our inventory is off-site, in our Studio we have a skein each of just about every color of every yarn in our collection. We have the samples that we've knit at our fingertips and shelves upon shelves of patterns and books to which we can refer.

The showroom floor of our Studio, where our collection of yarns, samples, and patterns lives.

In our Studio, we gather bits and bobs of inspiration—from favorite patterns to gifts from friends.

The full color palette of a yarn, the textures and fabrics of knitted samples—fun ideas are right on hand!

We've partnered with a local business to manage our off-site inventory and our shipping services, so that members of our multi-talented staff are free to lend their expertise to you. Through email and over the phone, our Customer Care team is glad to help you with any questions you may have. They're ready to puzzle through patterns or problems with you, match wonderful yarns with wonderful projects, and provide guidance with teas, tools, and more.

Our staff is excited to collaborate with you on your next project!

OPEN DAYS

As a showroom rather than a shop, our Studio gives us the chance to rethink how we can connect with our community of yarn- and tea-lovers. A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of inviting you to an in-person Open Studio Day—an experience we can't wait to repeat again and again!

What a joy to welcome so many of you to the Studio!

To meet so many friends—new and familiar—in person, in our new home, has perhaps been the most joyful point in the moving process. We plan to make Open Studio Days a monthly occurrence! We'll welcome you into our space and give you insight into our latest projects and newest yarns. While you visit, touch and squeeze the yarns you've seen on our website, try on samples, ask questions of our staff, and meet other members of this kind, creative community!

Confer with friends about your project plans, WIPs, and FOs!

With this move, we've received many new opportunities. A few have become plans while others are still in the dreaming stage—though we know, with your support, they can become a reality. Trunk shows, workshops, knit-alongs, guests . . . The days ahead are open and exciting! And we can't wait to share them with you.

See you soon!
